BREAST CANCER TUMOUR
CHALLENGE: It leaves a bad taste in our mouth to know that South African childhood obesity has doubled in six years. Yet fast food advertising campaigns continue to whet appetites and attract a growing number of consumers.
SOLUTION: We designed this cheeky poster to offer an alternative perspective to the idea of healthy food on-the-go.
THERE ARE SIGNS OF HOPE EVERYWHERE
CHALLENGE: The Kgosi Neighbourhood Foundation is a non-profit organisation that runs outreach programmes for underprivileged children between 3 to 6 years old. A growing number of street kids meant the school needed more funding to expand and sustain the school.
SOLUTION: We see street kids every day. To attract donations, our TV and print campaign worked to change how South Africans perceive them, as children with hope.
RESULT: The campaign touched thousands and raised thousands more in funding for the school. See how the kids are getting on: www.knf.org.za
PAY YOUR RESPECTS
CHALLENGE: In South Africa, June 16 will always be remembered as the day the youth of Soweto took it upon themselves to change the course of their lives and our history. Castle Lager wanted us to salute their contribution in a memorable way.
SOLUTION: In Africa, to honour the deceased we pour out our liquor. A tradition we brought to life in a TV ad that invited the nation to share their messages of appreciation on a website for a Castle Lager sub-brand we named 9644.
CHALLENGE: 60% of South African homes are without a single book. We know reading becomes a culture when it has been internalised into a way of life. We were asked to create a township school outdoor campaign that would serve as a daily reminder of how far books can take us.
SOLUTION: Using graffiti and hip-hop poetry, we created a series of giant school murals that told stories of how our greatest leaders were readers.
KNOW THE PAST. DON'T REPEAT IT.
CHALLENGE: When young South Africans no longer see the relevance of the history of apartheid in contemporary South Africa, we are in danger of repeating our own history.
SOLUTION: We created a provocative poster designed to inspire kids to visit The Apartheid Museum. The museum is the first of its kind to illustrate the rise and fall of apartheid as an essential part of the cultural history of South Africa.
